February!

Heyy.... Sorry guys and gals! Being a college student with no money and a LOT of homework can make me a little late on the blogging. BUT!!! that doesn't mean I have less to say.
It's February and that means Black History Month. Im not black, in fact im an Indian American. I have no problems with Black History Month. In fact I think that if you have a month dedicated to your own culture and history, you should definately be happy, rejoice, and celebrate your history. But why do only black people get to do this?? I've always wondered why there is no Indian Month, Asian Month, Women's Month, Hispanic Month and etc. Later I came to understand that asking America to be overwhelmingly indiscriminate and turning it into a bigger melting pot than it already is was asking for too much..... But what about Native Americans?
Both groups of people were tortured and removed from their land. The only difference was that Native Americans were basically wiped out of this world. It is very rare to find a pure native american. This doesn't mean that African Americans and several other black cultures were not as equally wronged. But why is it that only Black people get their own month?
First off, before I sound ignorant I do want to say that there is a Native American month (it's November), an Asian Month (it's May), and there is a Hispanic Month (Sept 15- Oct 15).
Considering all of that.... Why is Native American month not as highly promoted? Why do we see more BET-like channels and more black history month commercials in comparison to Native American month...??
Does this make Black History month racist? Hopefully this makes you think a little. Give me your thoughts...

Weekly!

So... wondering whats been going on in the Fashion World?? Well I'm not a fashionista but I did do a little research. So, guess what outragiously beautiful clothes came down the runway this time! The Spring Couture in Paris took place this week. According to the NY Times, this was Mr. Karl Lagerfeld's 54th couture collection for the house. It was a memorable milestone because it Mr. Lagerfeld 54 collections until he achieved his goal in making a dress that seemed seamless. Other notable designers in the show included Dior's John Galiano, Ricardo Tisci from Givenchy and many others! The show was a brilliant success and according to WWD Fashion Shows"Designers went for patina in spring couture with looks in luminous iridescant materials, mother-of- pearls effects and high shine fabrics often veiled with tulle or lace."
These designers brought breathtaking clothes to this years runway. For example Valentino's collection was so elegant and graceful that it floated down the runway. The color combinations were almost magical. His first dress was beige and yellow. Not only did the yellow pop in the sense that it's amazing, but the cut of the yellow fabric on the model's side made her eligible to put Tinker Bell out of the job. While watching these clothes come down the runway many of them, not just Valentino's, would make one nostalgic and bring ideas of fairies and winter wonderlands to mind.
You can look at all of the designs from this year's Spring Couture Collections at the following site:
I'd like to give a shout out to WWD Fashion Shows for being my reference! :)
